USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) is the ninth nuclear-powered aircraft carrier and the eighth in the Nimitz class. The keel was laid by Newport News Shipbuilding, Nov. 29, 1993. The ship was named after the 33rd President of the United States Harry S. Truman.
Truman embarked on its maiden deployment November 28, 2000. Since then Truman and her crew have supported Operations Southern Watch, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
Truman is currently deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts.
USS Harry S. Truman has won seven Battle “E” awards: 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2013.
